How do I plant my lotus?

Plant your lotus tuber in a wide, shallow, no-holes container using loam soil. Fill your lotus container 2/3 full. Dig a trench on the surface of the soil. Place your lotus tuber in the trench. Cover the lotus tuber with an inch or two of soil taking care not to break or damage the growth tips. Gently add 2 - 3 inches of water above the soil and place your lotus container in a sunny area outdoors. Wait until your lotus has aerial leaves to fertilize. Fertilizing too soon may stunt or kill your lotus plant.

How and When do I fertilize my lotus plant?

Fertilize your lotus plants after they have aerial leaves growing out of the water. We recommend a slow release fertilizer like Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs for optimum growth, best bloom and ease of use. Simply press the tabs into the soil near the roots of your lotus plant, taking care not to damage the roots. Do this once each month, June through September.
