Fabulous, single to double petal blooms on this tall, deep-red lotus. Flowers are large and held above the emerald-green foliage. Pink stamens and bright, yellow-gold receptacles adorn this exceptional lotus! Adds a 'magnificent' touch when placed in containers on your deck, terrace or patio, and makes a remarkable focal point in your pond!
After all danger of frost has passed, plant this beautiful specimen in a wide, (24 - 48" or wider) shallow, no-holes container using loam soil. Fill the container with loam soil about 3/4 full, dig a trench across the top of the soil and gently place your lotus tuber in the trench. Cover the lotus tuber with an inch of soil--leaving the growth tips on your tuber exposed. Add a couple of inches of water above the soil and place your container where it will receive 10-12 hours of sunlight daily. In a week or two you should have coin leaves growing to the surface of the water. DO NOT fertilize your lotus until you have aerial leaves growing out of the water. Once you have aerial leaves, you may fertilize your lotus once a month with 3 - 4 Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabbs + Humates during the growing/blooming season (June through August). Your lotus should grow and bloom the very first year!
We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabbs + Humates as well as Landon Granular Fertilizer for vigorous growth and robust bloom!
