Rich Red Color! This lotus is the perfect substitute for Momo botan. However, we think that it is easier to grow and blooms much more dependably than Momo. "Fire Crane" is going to become the new favorite for small double-petals lotus!
Plant your lotus tuber in a wide (10 inches or wider), no holes container using heavy loam soil. Once you have added your heavy loam soil to the container, dig a trench on the top of the soil and place your lotus tuber in the trench, being careful not to damage the growth tips. Make sure the growth tips are facing up and slowly add a few inches of water above the soil. Place your container in an area that receives at least 8 hours of sunlight per day. DO NOT FERTILIZE. In a week or two you will have coin leaves on the surface of the water, once those coin leaves have changed to aerial leaves growing out of the water, you may fertilize your lotus.
Mark your calendar for the 1st and 15th of the month and fertilize your lotus with 4-6 Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabbs Plus Humates for vigorous growth and best bloom.
