Lotus Planting Instructions

Plant your sacred lotus in a wide, shallow container (24 inches wide or wider) using heavy loam soil and place in full sun with 3 - 4 inches of water over the top of the soil in the container. Fertilize monthly with fertilizer tabs AFTER you have two standing leaves growing out of the water.

Fertilizing Lotus Plants

Wait until you have aerial leaves growing out of the water on your sacred lotus plants. Once you have aerial leaves, you may fertilize your lotus plants. We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs for optimum growth, best bloom and ease of use. Simply press the tabs into the soil near the roots of your lotus plant, taking care not to damage the roots. Do this once each month, June through September, with the last dose of fertilizer in early September. Your lotus plant will then go into dormancy naturally.

Please see our 'Complete Lotus Growing Guide' included with each lotus order.
