Chinese Red Yan'an (Chinese name: Zhongguhong Yan'an) :
Striking, single petal, brilliant-red flowers on this lovely, early bloomer! Long, red petals are drenched in color and complement the lush, dark- green foliage nicely. From Mr. Ding's Chinese City Series. Simply SENSATIONAL in its' simplicity! BLOOMS EARLY!
Plant your lotus tuber in a wide (24-48 inches or wider), shallow container using heavy loam soil. Dig a trench across the surface of the soil and gently place your lotus tuber in the trench, cover all but the growth tips with soil and gently add about four inches of water above the soil. Place your container in a sunny (8 hours + sunlight) location on your patio or in your pond. In a week or two you will have coin leaves growing on the surface of the water. DO NOT fertilize until you have aerial leaves growing out of the water, then fertilize monthly from June through September, using 4-6 fertilizer tabbs monthly.
Lotus are very heavy feeders, we recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabbs + Humates for vigorous growth and best bloom! Just push the fertilizer tabbs gently into the soil (about 1 inch deep), being careful not to damage the roots.
