Stunning, red blooms open wide to catch every ray of sunlight on this tall, brilliant-red, single-petal lotus. Handsome green foliage and bright-yellow centers complement this splendid HEAVY BLOOMER! Add this beautiful specimen to your waterscape this year!
Wait to plant your lotus tuber until your nights are consistently 50 degrees or warmer and all danger of frost has passed. You will need a wide, (24 - 48" in diameter) shallow, no-holes container. Fill your container about 3/4 full--using heavy loam soil. Dig a trench across the top of the soil and place your lotus tuber in the trench, being careful not to break or damage the growth tips. Cover all but the growth tips with an inch of soil and gently add two to four inches of water above the tuber. Place the container where the lotus will receive at least 10 - 12 hours of sunlight per day. In a week or two you should have coin leaves on the surface of the water. DO NOT fertilize until you have aerial leaves growing out of the water. Fertilize with three or four fertilizer tabbs each month throughout the growing/blooming season, (June through August).
Lotus are very heavy feeders and need fertilizer to grow and bloom! We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabbs + Humates for vigorous growth and best bloom!
