Lotus Plant Description
Chinese Red Sun 14 B Lotus is a beautiful, bowl-dwarf lotus with rich, warm, red color over the petals. The sunny-yellow receptacle and emerald-green foliage on Chinese Red Sun 14 B Lotus is the perfect complement to this lovely red, single-petal lotus plant. This is a Sino-Japanese hybrid and is a beautiful lotus!
How to plant your lotus tuber
Plant your lotus tuber in a wide, shallow, no holes container using loam soil. The container should be 11 - 20 inches wide. Fill the container 2/3 full with loam soil and dig a shallow trench across the surface of the soil. Gently place your lotus tuber in the trench, taking care not to bruise or damage the growth tips. Cover all but the growth tips with an inch of soil while leaving the growth tips exposed. Gently add 2 - 3 inches of water above the container and place it in a sunny area in your outdoor living space (8 - 12 hours of sunlight daily). Check the water level often as the water above the plant can evaporate quickly. Replace the water that has evaporated with warm water. Do not fertilize your lotus until you have aerial leaves growing out of the water.
How to fertilize your lotus plant
Once you have ariel leaves you may fertilize your lotus plant. We recommend 'Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs' for optimum growth, best bloom and ease of use. Simply press the tabs into the soil near the roots of your lotus plant, taking care not to damage the roots. Fertilize throughout the growing blooming season, but only after you have aerial leaves growing out of the water!
