Lotus Planting Instructions

Plant this lotus in a wide (24-48 inches or wider), shallow container using heavy loam soil. Dig a trench across the surface of the soil and place the lotus tuber in the trench, being careful not to damage the growth tips. Cover all but the growth tips with an inch or two of soil, leaving the growth tips exposed. Add 3-4 inches of water over the soil and place outdoor in full sun (8+ hours of sunlight daily). In a week or two you will have coin leaves on the surface of the water. DO NOT FERTILIZE! Soon you will have aerial leaves growing out of the water, once you have aerial leaves, you may fertilize your lotus.

Lotus Fertilizing Instructions

Lotus plants are very heavy feeders! We recommend WATERLILY WORLD FERTILIZER TABS + HUMATES. Fertilize with 4 to 6 fertilizer tabs each month (from June through September). Simply press the fertilizer tabbs into the soil in the lotus container, being careful not to damage the roots of the lotus plant. If properly planted, your lotus should GROW and BLOOM the very first year!
