Lotus Plant Description

Green Maiden Lotus has soft, glowing colors in delicate shades of creamy-yellow and soft pink that are almost radiant, as if lit from within! Bright-yellow receptacles and handsome green foliage complement this sacred lotus plant nicely. This lotus is very easy to grow and is an EARLY BLOOMER to boot! Dazzling, Semi-Double blooms, with subtle green undertones, are so very lovely in the summer sunshine! A great addition to your water garden feature!   Green Maiden adapts well to a miniature bowl so it can be grown as an micro lotus as shown in the picture.

Lotus Planting Instructions

Plant your sacred lotus tuber in heavy loam soil using a wide container (16-20 inches or wider). Dig a trench in the soil and gently place the lotus tuber in the trench being careful not to break or damage the growth tips. Cover the lotus tuber with soil while leaving the growth tips exposed. Add two or three inches of water above the soil and place in a sunny location outdoors. In a week or two you should have coin leaves on the surface of the water, a week or two after that you should have aerial leaves growing out of the water. Once you have aerial leaves, it is time to fertilize your lotus.

 Lotus Fertilizing Instructions

Lotus plants are very heavy feeders! Fertilize monthly with fertilizer tabs after two aerial leaves are growing up out of the water.  Lotus are very heavy feeders! We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs for optimum growth, best bloom and ease of use. Simply press three fertilizer tabs in the soil near the roots of your lotus, being careful not to damage the roots. Do this once a month throughout the growing/blooming season (June through September). Your lotus should grow and bloom the very first year!
