Lotus Plant Description

Gold and Resplendence Lotus is a marvelous light- yellow lotus with creamy-yellow flowers and green petaloids that add drama and interest to this multi-petal beauty. The seed pods on the Gold and Resplendence Lotus are interesting as well, as they have a red tint. The graceful, green foliage adds to the elegance of this fine , sacred lotus specimen. Lotus Planting Instructions

Plant your sacred lotus tuber in the month of May, after all danger of frost has passed. Wait until the weather is warm with nighttime temperatures consistently warm and daytime temperatures are consistently hot.  Plant your lotus tuber in a wide (16-30 inches wide or wider), shallow container using heavy loam soil. Dig a trench in the soil and carefully place your lotus tuber in the trench, being careful not to break or damage the growth tips. Cover the lotus tuber with soil while leaving the growth tips exposed. Add a couple of inches of water above the soil and place the lotus container in a sunny location outdoors. (Lotus need 8+ hours of sun per day to grow and bloom) In a week or two your lotus will have coin leaves on the surface of the water. A week or so after that your lotus will have aerial leaves growing out of the water. Once your lotus has aerial leaves, it is time to fertilize your lotus.

Lotus Fertilizing Instructions

Lotus plants are very heavy feeders! We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs + Humates for optimum growth, best bloom and ease of use. Simply press three or four fertilizer tabs into the soil near the roots of your lotus, being careful not to damage the roots. Do this ONCE A MONTH throughout the GROWING/BLOOMING season (June through September). Your lotus should grow and bloom the very first year!

Please see our 'Complete Lotus Guide', included in your lotus purchase!

IMPORTANT TIP!

There are many factors that determine how many blooms you will have over the summer months. Container size, amount of sunlight and fertilizer are all important factors when it comes to blooms! Use the widest container possible, make sure your sacred lotus plant gets 8+ hours of sunlight daily and make sure you are fertilizing your lotus properly!
