How do I plant my lotus?

Plant this little lotus in a small. wide, shallow, no holes container using loam soil. Fill the small container 2/3 full of loam soil. Dig a shallow trench across the surface of the soil. Place the lotus tuber in the trench and cover all but the growth tips with an inch of soil. Gently add an inch or two of water above the soil and place in a sunny area outdoors  (8 - 12 hours of sunlight daily). Check the water level often and replace any water that has evaporated above the soil. Water will evaporate quickly on warm, summer days.

How do I fertilize my lotus?

Fertilize your lotus after it has aerial leaves growing out of the water. Fertilize once each month, June through September. Simply press the fertilizer tabs into the soil near the roots of your lotus plant, taking care not to damage the roots.
