How To Plant Your Lotus

Plant in a wide (16 - 20 or wider) shallow container using heavy loam soil. Dig a shallow trench in the soil and place your lotus tuber in the trench being careful not to damage the growth tips. Bury all but the growth tips, leaving them exposed.  Gently add an inch or two of water above the soil. Place the container in a sunny location outdoors (8 + hours of sunlight). In a week or so you will have coin leaves on the surface of the water, after the coin leaves you will have aerial leaves growing out of the water.

Please read our 'Complete Lotus Guide' included with your lotus order!

How To Fertilize Your Lotus

Once you have aerial leaves, you may fertilize your lotus with 2 fertilizer tabs per month. Simply press the tabs into the soil near the roots of your lotus being careful not to damage the roots.

Lotus are very heavy feeders! We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs + Humates for optimum growth and best bloom! You should have flowers the very first year when planting from tubers!

Remember to replenish the water above the soil on your lotus as it evaporates!
