Lotus Planting Instructions

Plant your lotus tuber in a wide, shallow, no-holes container. Use loam soil, filling your lotus container 2/3 full. Gently dig a trench with your hand across the surface of the soil and place your lotus tuber in the trench. Be careful not to break or damage the growth tips. Cover all but the growth tips with an inch or two of soil, leaving the growth tips exposed. Gently add 2 - 3 inches of water above the soil and place your container in a sunny area outdoors (8 - 12 hours of sunlight daily). Lotus need at least 8 hours of sunlight to grow and bloom. Once you have aerial leaves, it is time to fertilize your lotus.

Lotus Fertilizing Instructions

Wait until you have aerial leaves to fertilize your lotus plants. We recommend using Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs for optimum growth, best bloom and ease of use. Simply press the tabs into the soil near the roots of your lotus plants, taking care not to damage the roots. Fertilize during the growing/blooming months (June through September). Lotus will go into dormancy in October.
