Lotus Planting Instructions
Plant this captivating specimen in a wide (20-30 inch or wider), shallow container using heavy loam soil. Dig a shallow trench across the surface of the soil and place the lotus tuber in the trench, being careful not to damage the growth tips. Cover the tuber with an inch of soil but keep the growth tips exposed. Gently add an inch or two of water over the tuber and place the container in full sun (8 hours + sunlight). DO NOT fertilize. In a week or two you will have coin leaves on the surface of the water, wait until you have aerial leaves growing out of the water to fertilize.
Lotus Fertilizing Instructions
Once you have aerial leaves, you may fertilize with 3 fertilizer tabs each month from June until September. Simply press the fertilizer tabs about one inch deep into the soil around the roots of the lotus, being careful not to damage the roots.
We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs + Humates for robust plants and heavy bloom!
