Lotus Planting Instructions
Plant in wide (24-48 inches or wider), shallow container using heavy loam soil. Dig a trench across the surface of the soil and carefully place your lotus tuber in the trench with growth tips pointing up. Carefully cover the tuber with soil but keep the growth tips exposed. Put a couple of inches of water over the soil and place the container in full sun( 8+ hours). In a week or two you will have coin leaves on the surface of the water.
Lotus Fertilizing Instructions
Do not fertilize until you have aerial leaves growing out of the water. Fertilize monthly with Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs Plus Humates for vigorous growth and best bloom.
*PLEASE NOTE
These tubers can be grown as vegetables and can be used in many Asian recipes from salads to stir fry! When planting this tuber as a vegetable, rather than an ornamental flower, it must be planted in a shallow pond, not a container! Lotus tubers should be 2-4" in diameter for edible consumption.
