Tranquil Snow Lotus
Lotus Plant Description
Tranquil Snow Lotus is a smaller lotus that can be grown in small bowls or containers. The pure-white, multi-petal lotus flowers are simply sublime and bring peace and tranquility to your water garden setting. The green centers are usually bubbled carpels or small green receptacles. The emerald-green foliage is a beautiful complement to the Tranquil Snow Lotus.
How do I plant my lotus?
Plant your lotus tuber in a wide, shallow, no holes container (11 - 16 inches wide) using loam soil. Fill you container 2/3 full with loam soil. Dig a shallow trench across the surface of the soil. Gently place your lotus tuber in the trench. Cover the tuber with an inch of soil, leaving the growth tips exposed. Add two inches of water above the soil and place in a sunny area outdoors (8 - 12 hours of sunlight). Do not fertilize until you have aerial leaves growing out of the water.
How and when should I fertilize my lotus plant?
Never fertilize your lotus until you have aerial leaves growing out of the water. If you fertilize too early you may stunt or kill your lotus plant. We recommend a slow release fertilizer like Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs, for optimum growth, best bloom and ease of use. Simply press the tablets into the soil near the roots of your lotus plant. Take care not to damage the roots. Do this once each month, June through September, making the final fertilizer application in September.
