Lotus Planting Instructions
Plant in a wide (20-30 inch or wider), shallow container using heavy loam soil. Dig a trench across the surface of the soil and gently place your lotus tuber in the trench with growth tips exposed and pointing up. Cover the portions of the tubers that do not have growth tips with a shallow layer of soil. Gently add 3-4 inches of water above the soil and place your container where it will receive at least 8+ hours of sunlight daily. DO NOT FERTILIZE. In a week or two you will have aerial leaves growing on the surface of the water. Wait until you have aerial leaves growing out of the water to add 3 fertilizer tablets per month to the soil around the roots of your lotus, being careful not to damage the roots.
Lotus Fertilizing Instructions
Lotus are very heavy feeders. We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs + Humates for vigorous growth and best bloom! Use the fertilizer tabs from June until September.
