Lots of glorious flowers drenched in shades of BRILLIANT-RED with long, slender petals on this spectacular, small lotus! This is an incredible EARLY BLOOMER with lots of blooms and blooms ALL SEASON LONG! A perfect choice when you don't have a lot of room. Great in ornamental containers or small ponds. Fit for an emperor! A great substitute for the old Momo Botan which is not a great bloomer but this lotus, Red Silk, is spectacular!
Flower Color: Brilliant Red/Dwarf-Medium/Multi-Petal
Plant in a wide (20-30 inch or wider), shallow container using heavy loam soil. Dig a trench across the surface of the soil and gently place your lotus tuber in the trench with growth tips exposed and pointing up. Cover the portions of the tubers that do not have growth tips with a shallow layer of soil. Gently add 3-4 inches of water above the soil and place your container where it will receive at least 8+ hours of sunlight daily. DO NOT FERTILIZE. In a week or two you will have aerial leaves growing on the surface of the water. Wait until you have aerial leaves growing out of the water to add 3 fertilizer tables per month to the soil around the roots of your lotus, being careful not to damage the roots.
Lotus are very heavy feeders. We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabbs + Humates for vigorous growth and best bloom! Use the fertilizer tabbs from June until September.
Type: Dwarf-Medium Lotus
