Red Dragonfly 14 Lotus, (Chinese: Hongqingting 14)
Red Dragonfly 14 Lotus is a brilliant-red version of this species and will replace our older variety of Red Dragonfly. The color is a hotter, deeper red and the receptacle is a brighter gold than the previous version. Red Dragonfly 14 Lotus is a HEAVY BLOOMING AND EARLY BLOOMING lotus! Red Dragonfly 14 Lotus has beautiful blooms with electric color!

Lotus Planting Instructions
Plant your lotus tuber in the month of May, after all danger of frost has passed. (Lotus can be stored in the crisper of your refrigerator until proper planting time in your area).Plant this beauty in a wide (18-30 inches or wider), shallow container using heavy loam soil. Dig a trench in the soil and gently place your lotus tuber in the trench, taking care not to break or damage the growth tips. Cover the tuber with soil while keeping the growth tips exposed. Add three to four inches of water above the soil and place in a sunny location outdoors. Lotus need 8+ hours of sunlight to grow and bloom. In a week or two you should have coin leaves growing on the surface of the water, a week or so after that, you should have aerial leaves growing out of the water. Once you have aerial leaves, it is time to fertilize your lotus.
Lotus Fertilizing Instructions
Lotus are very heavy feeders. We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs for optimum growth, best bloom and ease of use. Once you have aerial leaves, simply press three or four fertilizer tabs into the soil near the roots of your lotus, taking care not to damage the roots. Do this once a month throughout the growing/blooming season, June through September. Your lotus should grow and bloom the very first year!
