Lotus Planting Instructions
Plant in a wide (24-48 inches or wider), shallow container using heavy loam soil. Dig a trench across the surface of the soil and place the lotus tuber in the trench, gently covering all but the growth tips in soil. Carefully add a few inches of water above the soil and place where the lotus will receive at least 8 hours of sunlight each day. In a week or two you will have coin leaves on the surface of the water. DO NOT FERTILIZE! Soon you will have aerial leaves growing out of the water.
Lotus Fertilizing Instructions
Once you have aerial leaves growing out of the water, you may add fertilizer tabs to the soil around the root of your lotus tuber. Be careful not to damage the roots as you gently push your fertilizer tabs one inch into the soil. Lotus are very heavy feeders! Fertilize during the growing/blooming season (June through September) for strong plants and best bloom.
We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs + Humates for optimum growth and best bloom!
