How To Plant Your Lotus Tuber
Plant your lotus tuber in a wide, shallow, no-holes container (24 - 48 inches wide) using loam soil. Fill your container 2/3 full of loam soil. Dig a shallow trench across the surface of the soil. Gently place your lotus tuber in the trench, taking care not to break or damage the growth tips. Cover all but the growth tips with an inch or two of soil, leaving the growth tips exposed. Gently add 2 - 3 inches of water above the soil and place in a sunny location outdoors. Do not fertilize until you have aerial leaves.
How To Fertilize Your Lotus Plant
Lotus are very heavy feeders. Once your lotus has aerial leaves, you should begin to fertilize your lotus plant. We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs for optimum growth, best bloom and ease of use. Simply press two or three tabs around the roots of your lotus plants about an inch into the soil, taking care not to damage the roots. Do this once a month, June through September, making early September the last application.
