Lotus Planting Instructions
Plant this sacred lotus specimen in a wide (18-30 inches or wider), shallow container using heavy loam soil. Dig a shallow trench across the surface of the soil and place the lotus tuber in the trench, being careful not to damage the growth tips. Cover all but the growth tips with soil, leaving them exposed. Add a couple of inches of water above the soil and place in a sunny location outdoors (8 - 12 hours of sunlight daily). Your lotus needs 8+ hours of sunlight to grow and bloom. In a week or two your lotus plant will have coin leaves on the surface of the water, DO NOT fertilize until you have aerial leaves growing out of the water.
Lotus Fertilizing Instructions
Once you have aerial leaves you may fertilize your sacred lotus plants with 4 fertilizer tabs each month, from June through September.Lotus plants are very heavy feeders! We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs + Humates for optimum growth and best bloom! Simply press the fertilizer tabs into the soil around the roots of your lotus plant, being careful not to damage the roots.
