Lotus Planting Instructions
Plant your sacred lotus tuber in a wide, shallow, no holes container (20 inches wide or wider) using loam soil. Fill the container 2/3 full and dig a shallow trench on the surface of the soil. Gently place the lotus tuber in the trench, taking care not to break or damage the growth tips. Cover all but the growth tips with an inch or two of soil while leaving the growth tips exposed. Add 3 - 4 inches of water above the soil and place your lotus in a sunny area outdoors (8 - 12 hours of sunlight daily). Do not fertilize your lotus when planting as you may burn the plant.
Lotus Fertilizing Instructions
Wait until your lotus plant has aerial leaves to fertilize your lotus plant. We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs for optimum growth, best bloom and ease of use. Simply press the tabs into the soil near the roots of your lotus plant. Do this at least once a month throughout the growing/blooming months, June through September. The last dose of fertilizer should be administered in early September, this will allow your sacred lotus plant to go into dormancy naturally.
