Lotus Planting Instructions
Plant in wide (18-30 inches or wider) container using heavy loam soil. Dig a trench across the surface of the soil and place the lotus tuber in the trench, being careful not to damage the growth tips. Add an inch of soil over the tuber while keeping the growth tips exposed. Add two or three inches of water above the soil and place the container outside in a sunny location. (Lotus need 8+ hours of sunlight per day) In a week or two you will have coin leaves growing on the surface of the water, do not fertilize until you have aerial leaves growing out of the water.
Lotus Fertilizing Instructions
Once you have aerial leaves, you may fertilize with 4 fertilizer tabs per month throughout the growing/blooming season, (June through September). Simply press the fertilizer tabs one inch into the soil, being careful not to damage the roots.
Lotus are very heavy feeders! We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs+Humates for best bloom and vigorous growth. Your lotus should GROW and BLOOM the very first year!
